The wide Goiserer valley with the city of Bad Goisern stretches along the northern bank of the Lake Hallstaettersee, and to the south it offers a clear view of the Dachstein massif.
Of the famous Goisern protagonists, Hubert von Goisern belongs to best-known for making traditional music socially acceptable again, as well as... the Goiserer. Normally referring to an inhabitant of Goisern (who are known by non-Goiserers for being particularly warm people), the term "Goiserer" can also refer to the world-famous shoe, or rather its very special styling. One of the first people to have one fashioned for themselves was Franz Josef I, the "Goiserer." Even today, many illustrious guests from all over the world call on the Goiserer shoemaker with this goal in mind.
Just about everyone knows a Goiserer - be it resident or shoe.
And at the countless events, from the extreme sport event "Mountainbike Trophy" to the "Gamsjagatage" to the "Aufgeig'n", Dirdl and Lederhose belong to the fashion favorites. Folk culture, crafts and tradition are still an integral part of every day life here in the inner-Salzkammergut.
